Camping weekend Wapsbourne farm 11th-13th July

Dear Rainbow Families Campers

Below is some information provided by the campsite.  We have been over to look at the site and it looks great – loads of space, a little stream to get soaked in, with the opportunity to dry off beside your own open fire. The farmer (Paul) was very friendly, so friendly in fact that he is giving us a 20% discount. “What a bargain!” I hear you shout.  He has offered us our own section of field (or whole field if enough of us turn up) so is very content with large groups.

Anyroadup, enough admin, get your deposits back to me by 30th June so I have an idea of numbers. Please feel free to call or email me if you have any queries. I look forward to seeing you all.

Carolyn

Come Camping
Whether it is a bit of quiet with your own campfire; family fun with local attractions; Our organic farm is situated off the A275 at Sheffield Park with plenty of wildlife including deer, fox, rabbits and hedgehogs; field and woodland birds.

Tent Campsite
The tent pitches are nestled along the banks of the Pellingbrook, a gentle meandering stream joining the river Ouse. Have your own campfire pit for evening campfires, picnic tables for larger parties. Choose your spot to suit your dreams…

Facilities – There are two toilet blocks with hot and cold showers one brick block and one portaloo block within a short walking distance from the campsites. These are clean but basic facilities. We clean twice a day on weekends and busy days.

There is a laundry room with washers and dryers and a barn for wet days with a TV, pool table, table tennis and internet access.

Paul’s Pick Your Own Veg There is a vegetable garden to pick your own veg whilst staying.  It has a selection of juicy salad leaves and seasonal veg. The blackboard has a list of veg ready to pick and the prices, may also have organic eggs available.  Autumn gourd and squash display and for sale.

Walks
There are many walks through the farm; one that leads through the woods to the Sloop Pub is a popular one.  The farm is situated right in the middle of the new Sussex Ouse Valley Way walk, which takes two days to walk.

Local attractions
Bluebell Railway – Within ten minutes walk steam train with restaurant and pub. The train runs regularly and is a popular visit with children.
National Trust Garden – The garden and shop at Sheffield Park is well worth a visit, again within easy walking distance 10 -15 min.  There is a tea room at the garden.
Trading Boundaries – This country shopping site has a selection of unusual shops with a good café on site, turn left out of farm drive.
Danehill Stores and café – great village shop organic supplies and a café, turn left out of drive 2 miles.
Chailey – Kings Head Pub and Sarita’s café, right out of the drive up to crossroads.
