Rainbow Families is hosting an LGBT Family Day at Jubilee Library Children’s Area on 20th February 2016.
Bring the kids along to celebrate LGBT History month at Jubilee Library with Rainbow Families. There’ll be lots going on – face painting, badge-making, story-time, singing and crafts – there’s a play area for under 5’s too!! There will be the opportunity to find out about Fostering and Adoption and other family services.
As part of the day we’ll be launching our oral history project that will run through 2016 documenting and celebrating LGBT family life. We believe we have a rich and interesting but untold history. We hope to learn about the hopes, feelings, aspirations, changing attitudes, family histories and personal experience of members throughout our 20 year history – we think we started out as 6 families in the mid 90s!! Get in touch if you know more. We want to build an accessible online, educational resource of case studies, photos, stories, and video.
On the day we will be collecting stories and filming a documentary about the history of Rainbow Families and LGBT parenting (thanks to Georgia Rooney from MWP Digital Media). If you‘ve been involved with RF in the past, are a current member or want to get involved, it’s a great chance to meet others and find out the different ways to share your stories as part of this unique and exciting project.
The event will be from 10am -2pm.
