About us

Hello and welcome to our website. If you haven’t heard of us before let us tell you a bit about us and what we do…

Rainbow Families is an informal social group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning (LGBTQ+) parents and their children in Brighton & Hove, Sussex and surrounding areas. Membership is open to all LGBTQ+ parents, prospective parents and their children. We are a non-profit organisation and membership is free.

We know that some LGBTQ+ people who are thinking about having a family or are pregnant can feel quite isolated so feel free to get in touch with us and we’ll try and answer your questions or refer you to other organisations that may be of help. We also have a very active Facebook group – which is a great place to ask questions and meet members.

We aim to create a friendly, inclusive space for us and our children. Some of our families are led by single parents or carers, some have two mums, or two dads, both, neither or any combination you can think of, but whoever is included in the family everyone is welcome and we look forward to meeting your family.

Sub-groups
We have a variety of sub-groups including expecting families, babies, pre-school, primary, west branch, east branch, non-gestational parents, trans/non-binary and foster carers/adopters. Sub groups are member led and can be set up at any time, if you would like to join a group or set a new one up then contact us.

Social events for parents
We also arrange informal gatherings for parents, so keep an eye on our Facebook group or sign up for updates for details.

Rainbow Families Committee
Rainbow families is run by a volunteer committee, for more info see our committee page.

We look forward to hearing from you soon!
